There are some Key Sustainability Reports that can provide examples of what ‘we’ should be doing but aren’t necessarily doing.
I find these especially helpful during my university work. They also give me perspective and context about how long there has been discourse on the topic of Sustainability and how little action we have taken.
1987 Report of the World Commission on Environment and Development: Our Common Future (otherwise known as the Brundtland Report)
1992 The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), also known as the Rio Summit, Rio Conference & Earth Summit resulted in the following documents:
1992 Rio Declaration
1992 Agenda 21
And the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC or FCCC), which is an international environmental treaty.
1998 Kyoto Protocol
2000 The United Nations Millennium Declaration
2005 The Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia Sustainable Cities Report
2006 Vancouver EcoDensity Charter
2008 The Garnaut Review
2008 The Millennium Development Goals Report
